Best All-Around Hitter - the three spot is often designated for the best hitter on the team. Power is great, speed is great, but generally, you want a solid, reliable player here. Contact Hitter - the second slot in the lineup can be a wildcard, but this player should be putting the ball in play to move the lead-off hitter around the bases.
